Kopytek Inc. Purchases MBO B26/B30 Efficiency Continuous Feed Folder
Published: Nov 20th, 2008
Nov. 20, 2008: ST. LOUIS, MO – Kopytek, Inc. of St. Louis County, Mo., has announced the addition of an MBO B26 Continuous Feed Folder to expand its folding capabilities. The MBO B26’s innovative features and production speed will allow Kopytek to fold an additional 250,000 sheets per shift, as well as automatically fold pieces up to 48 pages thick to a finished size of 5.5 x 8.5, saving clients 20% to 40% in postage.
“Not only will our clients realize eventual cost savings from our increased operational efficiency, they will see immediate savings in postage because this machine can fold multiple page, stitched or stapled newsletters and other direct mail pieces down to the size of a letter,” said John Peterson, Kopytek CEO.
The machine’s standard features include an integrated batch counter, automatic setting of sheet gap and sheet in-feed through suction wheel, modular and versatile frequency speed controllers for AC drives, anti-static plates, and an A-76 mobile delivery. The mobile delivery can then feed a finished sheet into an MBO Z-2 knife-fold attachment for a finished letter size mailing.
“The speed, accuracy and versatility of the MBO B26 Continuous Feed Folder will equate to direct and indirect cost savings to our clients,” Peterson said. “Obtaining this piece of equipment is a key part to our overall business growth plan.”
The MBO B26 is expected to be installed in Kopytek’s new, 300,000 cubic foot headquarters and distribution center in Olivette in early December. But the placement of the equipment was planned out years in advance. When designing the new $2.4 million headquarters, at 9595 Dielman Rock Industrial Court, Peterson designed spaces for his existing equipment and spaces for equipment he would need in the next five years. The infrastructure and wiring of the new building cost thousands more than it would have normally, but Peterson said for every $1 he spent in upfront infrastructure costs, he saved $3 to $4 in retrofit costs if he wanted to change the building later.
