Kopytek Inc. Purchases High-Speed Color Offset Press
Published: Apr 16th, 2008
April 16, 2008: ST. LOUIS, MO – Kopytek, Inc. of Overland has announced a contract agreement with Datamax Graphic Systems to purchase a Ryobi high-speed color offset press. The 784 model is a convertible perfector unit making it possible to print both sides of the paper in one printing pass.
According to Kopytek CEO John Peterson, adding the Ryobi equipment to his operation enables the company to be more productive and efficient. “This will equate to better, more competitive pricing for our customers,” he said. “Without the perfector, we would normally have to put the paper through the press twice in order to print on both sides. Reducing our production timeframes will increase our ability to get finished product to our client base.”
In addition, Peterson indicated the machine has automated equipment that is standard, which includes semi-automatic plate loading and electronic image control. “This enhancement greatly speeds up the make-ready time of the machine to about 10 minutes for a four-color job,” Peterson said. “Normal make-ready time on machines without these features can take up to an hour to complete.”
Jeff Arn, Midwest regional sales manager for xpedx, expects Kopytek to be installed with the new Ryobi equipment by second quarter 2008, shortly after the company relocates to its new corporate headquarters at 9595 Dielman Rock Industrial Court in Olivette. The company projects to more than double its operating environment with its new $2.4 million, 20,000 square foot office, production and warehousing facility. In conjunction with the company’s current operations in Overland, Kopytek will also add an additional $2 million in the latest digital imaging technology.
Kopytek is a full-service St. Louis-based printing, digital imaging, mailing and fulfillment company. Since 1986, the company has built a reputation in the metro area for its superior print quality, individualized customer service and fast turnaround time. Kopytek’s client base includes Fortune 500 companies as well as a vast array of St. Louis area businesses.
