Photo vs. Font

A picture may say a thousand words, but what does a font say? Penguin Galaxy’s new typography project says that maybe you can judge a book by its cover.

Designed by Alex Trochut and set to be released November 15th of this year, the book set is comprised of six classic sci-fi and fantasy reads without their classic covers. On the list: Stranger in a Strange Land, Neuromancer, Dune, The Left Hand of Darkness, 2001: Space Odyssey, The Once and Future King.

But what’s a science fiction novel without some spacey and futuristic imagery printed on its cover? Penguin Galaxy has proven that words can still pack a punch by featuring a line-heavy font over a solid colored background, sure to make a statement. These book covers are more than just a bunch of lines and titles, but a combination of elements that allude to the plot of each book. So as far as covers of books go, judge away, we approve!
